It is time to finally open up this forum and release both the HHDB codebase and the database itself.

Originally, this data was gathered (and partially paid for from hand history providers) by the old HHEX (hand history exchange) on pokerai.org. It was a private forum and group that dedicated a lot of time and some money to gathering these hands. indiana (with the help of others I think) then came up with a new method of storing these hands more efficiently and built most of the codebase to convert hands from the site's format to his format plus basic analysis tools to parse the hands and work with the data.

The hands in the database are obfuscated and all player data was anonymized. The original hands were lost, or at least are not in mine and anybody else's possession as far as I know.

Code
I have pushed all of indy's code plus all of the code that I have built on top of it to github. This includes a small subset of the database to test your code against before running it against the entire database. The entire repository is published under GPL v3 as intended by indiana (see links below).

Feel free to checkout the code, fork the repository and/or contribute to it directly by building your own analysis tools:
https://github.com/coffee4tw/poker-hhdb

HH Formats
Samples for converting the hand histories into different formats are in the codebase.
One of them is for PS format I believe and the other is for ACPC format.

I found the PS format in PokerHandPrinter:
https://github.com/coffee4tw/poker-hhdb ... inter.java

I'm not sure where the ACPC one is. I know I wrote it at some point and you can see the converted files in here:
https://github.com/coffee4tw/poker-hhdb ... ample/uofa

It should be fairly easy to adapt to your needs though.

Hole Cards
There are no hole cards. You only see a players cards when they went to showdown or they decided to show them.

Full DB Details
Friar is kindly hosting these now at
HTTP: http://poker-db.veila.net/ (feel free to use wget to grab the whole she'bang)
TORRENT: http://poker-db.veila.net/HHDB.torrent
Magnet: url=http://poker-db.veila.net/
To all users -> Please Please make a modest committment to seed this. Doing so will ensure this is available for years to come, and if we all throttle to a reasonable value, nobody will have to singlehandedly support the whole thing. Trickle.

Notes
P.S.: Original about the HHDB when access was restricted:

When are the details for accessing the full database coming? I'm working on an economics research paper and would love access to the full database.

Also any tips how I can go about converting the hand histories in the sample db from github into a plain text format for use elsewhere? Also i'm not clear on if this data includes hole cards?

Thanks!

Apparently the database is lost on tcourl's hosting service since the account got suspended.

Does anybody have an alternative solution to store roughly 15GB to make available for a long period of time?
Preferably not on something like Dropbox/Box/Google Drive.

Donations could help with costs?

bit torrent? Amazon S3?

Glacier probably isn't a good choice, as access is very slow and costs a lot of money-- glacier is really meant for long-term backups you'll only need occasional access to.

Hello, I am pretty new here, but I can offer hosting. PM me and we'll cordinate a transfer. I can offer pretty much unlimited hosting indefinitely. Also, for safety, perhaps we can get a torrent going on. I can seed persistently.

Here's some more stuff for the longevity of this project (severs come and go, magnets are for ever :P). To all users -> Please Please make a modest committment to seed this. Is there still any way to get this database? None of the links seem to be working. I am willing to contribute to hosting costs if that helps.

What archive?
I can give you access to some hand histories. Send me a PM when you want them and I'll open them up.
