I'm new to botting and would like to check if my understanding is correct. For a site with high security such as pokerstars, most botting is done by playing poker in a virtual machine while using the bot on the host machine.

However, for places where pokerstars requires geoloc-verification, I think botting would not work this way since virtual machine does not access wifi directly, and therefore would not be able to confirm location. Am I right to think that?

I don't use VMs but I doubt it. Google "where am i now" on a browser on the VM and you will find out.
- A computer using a fixed line gets its location from the internet connection, because the telephone exchanges know where they are.
- A computer using a cellular phone connection gets its location from the phone masts
- A phone with GPS gets its location from the GPS signal
- Public wi-fi connections know where they are, so a computer using them would be able to know where it is.

The only way I have found to get around geo-loc is to use a private VPN located on a Raspberry Pi that is located in a "safe country" or state. Using any kind of commercial VPN is suicide depending on the site. Many sites have banned/flagged all known VPN services and also VM services such as Amazon EC2.
