I see a lot of people here use Poker stars and full tilt.
Considering the big sites go a long way to detecting bots and banning people, why don't you bot on some of the many smaller sites instead?

Are PS and FT easier to read data from? or some other reason?
Thanks!

No, but why invest a lot of work to in a site where only a few players.

I think it depends on how you structure your code and efforts. If you are creating a Scraper-based bot, you can abstract away all details of the casino (images, screen sizes, etc..) and work first on a less risky casino.

Then, when your bot is ready, and all "humanization" is in-place and working perfectly, then you can implement these "specific details" for the more lucrative casinos, it should be less then 10% of the work you've already done. This is Object-Oriented Programming at its best!!

That's what I've being doing. I'm porting my bot to a different casino right now and it is being a easy task, compared to what I have done up until now.

I work with VMs, so I can have 1 VM per poker site (or better network). Also what he said, you want to be where many players and fish are.

And as I wrote in the other thread:
... I don't think Stars really wants to block Bots. Probably not the right place here to discuss this, but I could tell you many 100% clues my bots gave because of stupid stuff or programming errors and still no ban for me :-)

I believe they do, be careful. Despite, I solved captchas, used Hotkeys, havent used any screen scrapping method, they got me after a few months, they monitored every process running at task manager. They wrote they cant prove that I was botting, but I was too suspicios to let me play, they blocked my acc and let me to cash out.

edit1: btw using VM is a big red flag to them, you can be sure you will have to solve a few captchas.

edit2: dont keep too much money in your acc, just enough to have the minimum BR to your limit.

Hi cunika,

I'm using VM's and I am planning to start betting on Stars. Do you know if they show captchas in the play money mode?

Thanks,
Corintio

Be careful. I've heard that they look for signs of bots in play money but don't actually do anything until you use real money

I think they look for bots but they don't go very far with it. If I think what I would do against bots, my bots would have been flagged many times or would not even work (they could make scraping hell if they want to).

E.g. I had a bug where the bots would play without waiting. E.g. they prefolded 10ms-410ms after seeing the cards (I scraped all 400ms and need at most 10ms to react). They played for days until I fixed it. No human is that fast over hours without a single exception.
Also I had bugs where it prefolds AA preflop (even with 0 raises). Can happen to a human sometimes, but not that often. I had many funny bugs you see...

Maybe the little money I win does not care them and they wait until I win more. I hope not.
