Hey,

I am already feeling a little uncomfortable for creating so many topics and posts recently but never mind, I guess it's not too bad for the new forum :)
As the title says, I am intrested in how you have set up your virtual machine in case you are using one.
How do you transfer data from the guest to the host?
And how do you realize the output?
Especially, I am intrested in how you do the mouse movement.
I heard that it is possible to only move the mouse inside the virtual box so that you can use you computer as if nothing would be going on!
Do you know anything about that?

I'll add few more questions if you don't mind :)

Do you consider it safe? Very little percentage of users play under VM, so by using it you're helping them narrow down the search by a huge margin, no?
Is there a way to hide the fact that you're under VM?

You can hide that you are inside a vm with tremedous efforts.
However, there are many ppl using a vm, some because they want security, others because they are running on OSX and the client only on Windows. Using a VM is not even a reason for flagging you

Yes, but it's obvious they have a system that looks for common tells in a botter, they most likely model players by programs they use, OS environment, etc.

So for example:
Windows 7 laptop with IE8 (with facebook/tumblr in history), no firewall/antivirus/etc = probably not a threat
VM box with specific WinXP configuration = look into this guy

That is not a hint I'd say..
I got a win 7 guest with no anti virus, some misc progs installed for stealth and I doubt that any Poker Client will go and look that deep in you configuration and personal files

VM can probably arouse the interest of stars admins, so it would be better to go towards that enormous effort to hide that its a VM.

It doesn't matter what you define as a hint... they will probably look closer to you if running a virtual enviroment and raise some flags.

Do you use a tracking program like HM or PT if you run the poker client on a VM? If yes, are you saving the handhistories on the host to use for you bot, or are you scraping the stats? Is it suspicious to have the poker client on the VM and the tracker on the host?

As said previously, the suspicion begins when using the VM in the first place. You got to have a good alibi :D

I think using the tracker on the machine, where you are playing is better. If you are profitable, then the existence of the tracker would take some of the bot suspicion off.

My alibi: I know you guys install all manner of spyware, so I'm running it in XP mode under windows 7.

That's not really an alibi... that's just confirming that you have some proficiency with IT security and that the VM is there for the sole purpose of interfering with stars practices to ensure "game integrity". Good alibi? Move your porn collection inside the VM.

Honestly guys, if they are at a point where they send you an email to ask you why you are running on a VM I am pretty sure you are fucked already anyway. No point in trying to talk your way out of it.

If they would ONLY ask why are you using a VM, then probably you would not be fucked. If they would send a long letter asking a series of questions, then you could consider yourself fucked, but it is possible to work some things out with stars.

I'm sure, that they don't ask you if you raised enough flags. They will simply ban you.
And I never heard of someone getting unbanned ;)

If they're asking questions then you're fucked either way, point of not using VM is to reduce chances of those questions being asked in the first place.

If you're under VM then you show that you have at least some computer knowledge and you might be a threat, so the system flags you for review (can be automated, can be manual - doesn't mattter at this point).
That review might pass with flying colors if you're solid on every other aspect of stealth (I'm not even talking about stupid stuff like 24/7 play with no breaks) or it might be your downfall if you mess up at least one more thing...

I can't be bothered to find the references but I have heard of this.

One case was a guy multi-tabling and IIRC the casino actually visited him at home to observe him in action.

Another case was a group of people all playing with identical stats. They managed to convince the casino they all knew one another and shared a very rigid strategy. (they never played in the same game together)
