Therefore, there are 169 non-equivalent starting hands in hold 'em, which is the sum total of : 13 pocket pairs, 13 × 12 / 2 = 78 suited hands and 78 unsuited hands (13 + 78 + 78 = 169).
These 169 hands are not equally likely.

i am interested in reading table information from memory. I am currently using openholdem to scrape table, but it would be more reliable to read from memory. It would also enable using different table sizes. If somebody knows to do it i am willing to pay for it.

In academia, that's generally how things work. People strive to do the best research, release their ideas and people work on those ideas.
It's not a race that will finish any time soon, it's continuous advancements.
Well it is not simply about being first. If a Professor publishes many good papers, he is more likely to keep his job and get new grants from government to continue his research. I think that this is the reason why researchers are not sharing ideas before they publish them.
And there are better places to discuss about scientific approaches in poker AI than this forum. I think that this forum is actually more for botters who want to make money with bots, and not contribute to science. At least that is what I conclude from reading the topics.

I'm looking to for hand histories that contain a hero (i.e. we know the hole card of 1 player from the start of the hand) in order to create some unbiased statistics (if I were to buy hands without hero, stats such as % chances to see the showdown would be wrong). I'm of course willing to exchange (I could offer a couple of million hands with hero).
Unfortunately the "hand history" section of this forum is currently locked: any idea why? Where should I best post my question?

what was accepted then was the first solution that came to my mind when thinking about it myself, but spending another thought on it I came up with another number and would disagree with what was accepted...
I don't want to list the numbers here, but I would e.g. treat suited and non suited cards differently from a strategic point of view. And then the numbers change obviously.
