This is a place for public feedback and development of Open Poker Protocol.

The very first draft of the specification is outlined here:
http://pokerai.org/files/opp/opp.htm

Currently we are in process of forming the team responsible for producing the final specification (mods of this group), as well as looking for volunteers to develop and support the associated protocol bridges.

Since your post is old, I have some naive questions :
- Does some library available ?
- Do you have a server to enable pokerai fellows to test/compete with their bots ?

No, this got staled. I have coded an SNG testbed, where we put some bots into fight. This is now a private forum. You have to code a SNG bot that beats some sample bots, in order to get there.

An "Open Poker Protocol" would mean a complete design of a Server/Client network protocol.

The SNG testbed, in contrast, is just a library/interface, right? So you would actually have to send the code of your bot in order to participate.

Since this whole thing got stalled, why not go back to IRC Poker? The Servers are already there, and dealer bots already exist. You only need to connect your bot to an IRC server.

You got the interface/protocol idea right.

But did you read the html in the bottom, the motivation here is different. The idea simply to decouple botting logic from anything else, so that any tool can interface with a bot provided as a blackbox service.

So it does not need to be complete poker client/server protocol.

I would imagine many people dont want to share the code of their strongest bot. :xx18

So I still find the Network Protocol idea more interesting, because stronger bots would participate. 10 years ago some researchers already used IRC poker to test their bots. What about using that same platform for bot competition?

Hi All,

From this thread I understand that there is not really a client/server protocol yet.

As I’m implementing my own testbed, I have to come up with my own protocol.
What are the constraints one should comply with?
Apart from being compliant with Poker Academy Meerkat's API / events?

Thanks

We didn't look into client/server protocol beyon these old activities. We have published a meerkat API compliant test bed but it's just local.
