Hi,

I'm trying to scan the memory of a poker room. To be honest, it's kind of over my head. I'm a new programmer and I don't understand much about how the memory is working. I built a simple memory scanner using a tutorial with C however I don't understand how I can retreive the text from the memory since all memory are integer. Also, I read that some poker room allocate the chat memory dynamicly. So what I would like to know is if anyone have a good ressource that I could read on the subject because I doubt that one could explain how C/C++ handle the memory in a single post.

Before you post something like "why don't you use OCR or dll injection". I'll answer it quickly here: From what I read dll injection is not the best way to stealth your bot. OCR just seems like crazy maintenance. Also, if someday I want to run my bot on pstars I doubt that these two method would work. Anyway, building my bot is more a way for me to learn poker/programming then to make money.

All memory is binary. You program interprets the binary as int, double, string etc.

What you are trying to do is very, very hard. Google site:pokerai.org memory for more, or take a look at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9312 ... sweeper-in

I doubt you will take any notice, but I'd recommend constructing the AI instead.

Thank you for the answer. I did read before posting to all the thread using the "memory scanning" keyword. It's true that I could of look on stackoverflow I'll do that. The reason why I don't do the AI now is that I do the bot for educational purpose. I study in software engineer but I only did some web programming before. So I have alot to catch back and after reading 2-3 c++ books, I felt like I wanted to do something more concrete during the holidays. Thanks for the answer

I posted some code some time ago that would scan memory for strings. You could structure the 'find' string as binary data then use .NET fast string search to find what you're looking for without iterating through each byte.

Maybe have a look at cheat engine and go through the tutorial on there. This will give you a better idea on how to search memory. The source is also available if needed.
