Hello everyone.

I'm a master student in Engineering at the University of Ghent, Belgium.
For my master thesis, I'll try to make a poker bot, based on opponent modelling.

I have no experience with bots, but I have knowledge about programming and the game of poker.
I hope this is the start of a great educative journey. :sherlok

Hi All,

New to botting, pretty average player (if I'm feeling charitable) but very good at computer vision and concurrency. Mostly in it for the lulz and the software engineering practice, but tons of cash would be nice :)

Hello everybody!

I'm from Belgium.

I'm a master student in Computer science and I will make a bot for my master thesis.

I have no experience with bots and a student knowledge of programming.

And... I love poker!

Hi, :ugeek: and others

About a month ago i got back into programming because of developing a bot.
Is so much fun :D
There is so much information out there, and so much work to do, its a bit to much.
But ill keep working on it for ever probably. Ill try not to neglect this forum.

Hi,

I'm a computer science and statistics major from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). I've always liked poker and have recently become interested in automated players and the whole online poker world in general.

My goal is to learn as much as I can about optimal poker strategies and the ultimately find a way to earn money by playing online.

Hi,
I'm Emile, a PhD student in Machine Learning at Ecole Normale Supérieure. I've some experience in AI in games and deep neural networks, see for example this publication with Yoshua Bengio's LISA lab Advanced Matchmaking in Ghost Recon Online.
With my research team, I'm interested in putting these knowledges into the game of poker. I will be happy to exchange our expertise with this community !

Emile - I've often wondered how well deep learning would do on these two datasets http://pokerai.org/pf3/viewtopic.php?f= ... &start=100 Care to have a go?

I'm from Lithuania (studying in UK atm). huh funny, dreams? well for sure one of them is to not to come across GWT (Gooogle web toolkit) again ....

Sure, I always search for datasets to test any machine learning algorithm. Deep Neural Networks are a bit special and need to take a closer look on your data than classical classifiers (svm, rf, etc...). DNN usually outperforms them if you are able to help the pretraining of the low level layer(s) with any kind of prior information. I will take a try as soon as I have time. I'm not sure DNN will help for that particular challenge, and will try first some general forms of DNN (like AutoEncoder and variations). I can add some references in the related forum if anyone asks for it.
By the way, can you confirm me that the access to the forum "Hand History Research" is restricted to the "level1" members described in the FAQ ?

Hi,

Been writing beginnings to bots for about 6 years now. It has been and off and on hobby project. Mostly off.

My most ambitious work was a fuzzy rule engine written in Ruby that read all it's rules from text-files. I think I spent something like 3 years on that project. In the end the hierarchy became to complex so when I tried to connect it to some sort of screenscraper I just had to give up.
From the smoldering ruins of that project I started to have a look at the OpenHoldem-framework, but now I'm probably just to roll my own. Again.

Mostly doing this since I love doing hobby programming projects. All the bundles of cash I will earn in the end is just icing on the cake.
